Due to the city's geographical expansion and the absence of libraries in Mashhad, particularly in deprived and remote areas from the city centre, this library began its activity in 1999. Additionally, there are transportation issues for certain individuals, including disabled individuals, veterans, blind individuals, retirees, academic staff members, and others.
The mobile and telephone library is authorised to get requested resources of its members from all repositories, libraries, and department in the organisation and deliver them to its members' homes. The library has more than 840 members, which includes both real and legal members.
Three sections of this library are dedicated to promoting book culture and reading through extensive activities.
A) Mobile section:
The members of this section include cultural and educational centres, including seminaries, universities, schools, mosques, centres, educational centres, welfare centres, and more. The mentioned centres will receive a significant amount of books on loan (long-term loans from 1 to 10 years) as per the relevant regulations.
B) Telephonic section:
Members of this department are those with disabilities, veterans, blind people, retirees, and members of the academic faculties of the university and seminaries who are too busy to visit the libraries. Once members have joined, they can request books they require by phone, and if they are available, they will be delivered to their place of residence. It's important to make that clear the mobile library's service area is located in Mashhad.
C) Resources Donation section:
In this section, books that are not needed by the organisation are donated to educational and cultural centre based on the priority and criteria specified in the book donation and exchange regulations.
