The Imam Reza (AS) Sarakhs Cultural Complex and Library was inaugurated in 2010 and made accessible to individuals from Sarakhs who are interested in culture and art.
History and geographical location:
The construction of Imam Reza (AS) Sarakhs Cultural Complex and Library was initiated in 2000 in accordance with the recommendations of the Organisation of Libraries and Museums and the Astan Quds Razavi Documents Center and with the coordination of the Property and Land Management of Astan Quds Razavi of Sarakhs. Approximately 200 square meters of space between the seminary and the Imam Reza Mosque (AS) has been used for the library. Under supervision of the Deputy of Affiliated Libraries Affairs, the library began its activities with approximately 2000 copies of books. In 2001, this space was expanded to 500 square meters due to the reception of patrons and the increase in the number of books. In 2010, the cultural centre was constructed on a land area of 8800 square meters and infrastructure area of 2600 square meters. The building of this cultural centre was inspired by Phoenix, which has columns with different heights. This building, which has a travertine façade, is situated at the city's entrance next to the tomb of the unknown Sarakhs martyrs, and it was built by Khorasan Development Organisation, which is affiliated with AQR. This centre came to be operational with adequate equipment provided by the Organisation of Libraries, Museums, and Documents Centres of AQR in March 2010.
