Children Services

The Organization of Libraries, Museums, and Documents Centre of AQR, to offer specialized services to children, has inaugurated a specialized child library in the library of Imam Khomeini (RH) cultural and artistic complex, which is one of the AQR affiliated libraries located in Khaje Rabi in an area of 100 square meters.

 Special children’s equipment has been used in this library, and not only the counsellors’ ideas but also the personal aspects of children has involved in its design; it includes different parts, such as study hall, borrowing section, playing area, reference books section, periodicals and press hall, and workshop and educational area.

Resources of this centre have been selected and purchased among the best in the field of child and chosen at domestic and foreign festivals, including book, children’s journals, mental game, books required by parents about children, reference books for children, and physical-motor games.

The programs of this specialized library for children include holding different educational workshops such as every month with Imam, season introduction, display film and competition, knowledge of ancient Persian texts in children's language, theology, story and proverb, shrine study, Iran study and art.

This library welcomes children and teens aged 3 to 11, every day from 9 to 12 and 16 to 18, except for holidays. Children aged 3 to 8, in addition to borrowing three books for one month, can use area and facilities of the library, and girls and boys aged 9 to 11 can borrow the book.

In addition, in some other the AQR affiliated libraries, for encouraging children to book and book-reading, special services are offered to them through the child stations. The aims of establishing these child stations are to create an appropriate and pleasant environment for children and mothers comfort, who bring their children to the library. It is possible to flip through and borrow children's books, and there are also educational tools, entertainment, and games in these stations. Also, some activities such as group visits, storytelling, and painting competitions are held in child stations on various occasions.

In the AQR Central Library, there is not yet a special and certain area for offering specialized services to the children; but, in some parts of the library, such as the entrance of the open-shelf hall of the women, there is an area for those children, who visit the library with their mothers, and some children’s books are available for them in this special place.

Furthermore, the audio-visual section of the AQR Central Library with about 2,000 Persian and Latin software in various subjects, which are as follows, offers services to the child and teen members: teaching Qur’an and Islamic sciences, religious songs, pre-school education, childish poetry and story, painting, entertainment, children games, computer games for parents and teens, English teaching, children’s encyclopaedias, and e-books.

 Other services of the audio-visual section of the AQR Central Library are as follows: child resources lending to the child and teen members or their parents, child resources extending through phone or internet, borrowing of packages related to the children’s English, borrowing of Latin resources for reinforcing language learners of all ages, borrow for children, borrowing of ICDL software, audio storybooks, computer games, and Qur’an teaching and elementary school tutoring (from first to sixth grade).
