Education

After the new approval chart of the organization, the education unit of the Organization of Libraries, Museums, and Document Centers of AQR started to work formally in the area of chairmanship and under the observation of the head of the organization since July 2002.

Some features of the Organization of Libraries, Museums, and Document Centers of AQR are as follows:

  • Physical scope: there are more than 40 libraries in Mashhad and Iran.
  • The presence of incredible and well-trained human resources
  • Different specializations in various areas: there are at least six main thematic fields in the organization, each with special educational needs, including fields of library and notifying, manuscripts, museums, restoration and protection, documents and press, and management
  • Availability of young, knowledge-seeking, and motivated human resources
  • Having many audiences and users of different ages and education levels (from middle school to Ph.D. and the highest level of the seminary)
  • Special organizational experience and knowledge: With respect to the diversity of the profession and the thematic experts in the organization, this organization has been successful in creating incredible and unique organizational knowledge; So that some colleagues' experiences are less learned and acquired in some organizations and centers.

Respecting the mentioned features, the approaches and experiences of the education unit are as follows:

  1. Attention to the professional needs of all areas of work of organization staff from the guard to the skillful experts (such as educational needs of management, specialized, public, etc.)
  2. Emphasizing scientific and usage training with holding kinds of education formats (workshop, education conference, in person and on web and electronic education courses and scientific lectures, scientific sessions and participating in the scientific conference)
  3. Anticipating the process of teaching of organizational staff in other valuable educational centers in Mashhad and other provinces
  4. Anticipating the teaching process of interns in different fields of organization (in majors of librarianship, computer, IT, museum, accounting, etc.)
  5. Holding and anticipating training courses for research members and scientific centers (such as short-term training courses in librarianship, training courses such as the manuscript restoration, acquainting course with document-reading and Siyaq script, etc.)
  6. Wide range of use specialization and skill of colleagues in various fields, regarding the recommendation to skillful colleagues for holding course and training workshop; Of note, this approach carries many benefits for the organization, as follows:
  • An individual, who appears as a teacher, updates his knowledge for more influence in class, which makes colleagues active and growing.
  • Colleagues gain enough ability to run training courses in other organization.
  • The use of colleagues as teachers results in organizational knowledge being facilities and spreading.
  • It motivates other colleagues to take training courses.
  • On the whole, it increases the scientific standard of the organization.

 7. Trying to introduce the organization's managers to benefit from training seminars of in-service training center.

Landscape and objectives

The landscape of the educational unit of the organization, knowledge improvement, skill, and capacity of the human resources are founded on the education, and the mission of this unit is achieved through the quality and the quantity of the education.

Education objectives are to:

  • Adaptation of development programs and human resources enablement to the objectives of organizational guideline
  • Creating coordination between programs and training opportunities, learning in a manner that takes professional and organizational education needs into account, and avoiding unnecessary and repetitive educations
  • Creating motivation for self-creation and spiritual growth, material, skill, and knowledge of staff in self-controlled manner
  • Increasing managers’ belief in empowering and advancing human power through education
  • Increasing the efficacy of the programs and educational opportunities, and learning at different levels
  • Using internal and external resources and capacities of the organization to identify and provide educational services
  • Using national and international standards in managing and directing the education process
  • The use of approaches, models, methods, and new technologies to carry out and assess education
  • Focusing on short-term and usability educations approaches

The duties of the educational unit of the organization are to:

  • Reviewing staff training needs
  • Programming for staff education
  • Preparing staff training database
  • Preparing training certifications for all staff of the organization
  • Compiling staff calendar
  • Updating training regulations of staff, patrons, and interns
  • Evaluating training courses organized within the organization

Definitions of staff training

Today, staff training has become more important as information has grown and jobs have become more complex. Effective training allows individuals to achieve a sufficient level of competence in their own professions and to become more effective. Clearly, the more people have knowledge and training in their work, the more effective it is possible to formulate reflections and opinions about how to improve work. The life of the organization depends to a great extent on the different knowledge and skills of the staff. The more punctual these backgrounds, the more consistent the organization is with the variable environment. As far as a definition of in-service education is concerned, it should be pointed out that its main nature in all organizations and entities is to increase the effectiveness of staff and create environmentally compatible, as a result, services increase. In-service training is an attempt to promote knowledge, awareness, and technical skills, as well as a desirable manner of settlement among the staff of an institute or organization, and prepare them to better carry out their professional tasks.

Patrons training

Training users is important in the library and information centres when it comes to the nature of the libraries as a training entity. The Organization of the Libraries, Museums, and Document Centers of AQR operates educational classes for the new arrivals on the following grounds: The improvement of the quality of services presented, the rapid growth of collections, changes in the method of conservation and the recovery of the information, and the familiarization with different sections of the library for patrons. It aims to ensure that patrons can use the available facilities through learning education correctly and meet their information needs. As a result of patrons’ training, greater use is being made of library services and facilities.
