the history of Razavi's naqqarekhane

In the pilgrims’ Service stations (mawkib, temp resting places) of the central library of Astan Quds Razavi, the history of Razavi's naqqarekhane was examined based on the documents.

According to Razavi Treasury, Zahra Fatemi Moghadam as an expert in charge of documentation affairs of the Libraries, Museums and Document Center of Astan Quds Razavi, described playing naqqare as an old tradition of Iran, which has a special connection with the events and customs of each region.
He added: The Razavi holy shrine has the oldest religious naqarekhane in the blessed Islamic region of Iran, and other ones in Iran were established after the establishment of this and following it.
He said: The oldest document related to playing naqqare in the holy shrine dates back to 1011 AH and the Safavid period, which was paid salary to Darvish Haji Mohammad Tabal.
The expert added: Gradually, the naqqarakhane is gaining an independent position in the holy shrine.
she pointed to the costs of performing this tradition and said: After paying the salary of the staff of the naqqarakhane and supplying fuel to this place, the costs have also been spent on repairing the tools and equipment.


The closure of the naqqarakhane during the Pahlavi period

He pointed to the closure of the Naqarakhana of the Holy Shrine during the Pahlavi period and said: After August 1941 and the fall of Reza Shah, just as many restrictions and obstacles created for religious and political affairs disappeared, so the Naqarakhana of Holy Shrine started working again in 1942.
