The Gift of an Indian Bookseller to the Library of Astan Quds Razavi

Dedication of a handwritten copy of the Holy Quran of tenth lunar century by an English man to the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (A.S) A precious handwritten copy of the Holy Quran which belongs to tenth lunar century stayed in treasury of handwritten copies of the Holy Quran of Astan Quds Razavi after traveling to different countries and cities, in the course of history, from purchasing by one Indian bookseller to presenting to a Muslim in London and finally endowing to Divine Shrine of Imam Reza (A.S) According to the report of the Public Relations and International Affairs of the Organization of Libraries, Museums and Deeds Centre of Astan Quds Razavi , the Director of Central Library of the Astan Quds Razavi and Coordination Deputy of this organization announced this issue and said:“This copy of the Holy Quran has traversed a long way in the course of history. In fact, it has gone to England from India from its main origin , Mashhad, and finally, it has been dedicated to the treasury of handwritten copies of the Holy Quran of Astan Quds Razavi after buying of this copy by an Indian national and presenting to a Muslim in London-. Mr. Ja`afar Darbagh Anbaran mentioned : “This precious copy of the handwritten Quran - calligraphed in tenth lunar century in Naskh script has been dedicated to the library of Imam Reza (A.S) by Ms. Narges Khatoon Kourji , in the name of late Bahador Ali Gholam Hosein Korji Asaria. The Director of Central Library of Astan Quds Razavi announced that this handwritten copy of the Holly Quran has illustration inthe margin of every page . Furthermore, he said: “In this calligraphed copy of the Holy Quran, the names of verses are written in red, the spaces between verses are in the form of three-petal saffron flower. Also, its vowelizing is in red, dragonfly signs and depicted circles are in the margin, Surat al-Fatihah is in the appendix, the epigraph is depicted with red and black circles of saffron. Furthermore, Surat Al-Kahf is at the end and the epigraph is depicted in red and saffron colors”. He added: “This precious calligraphed copy of the Holy Quran has been written on foreign buff-colored paper with Timaj cover in brown above and beyond. The aim of the dedicator is her deep love to the threshold of the Imam of Kindness , Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Reza . She said “We have dedicated it to the grand library of Imam Reza (A.S) as per Bahador Ali`s will. Ms Narges Khatoon Kourji revealed: “I thank Allah Almighty for choosing me to deliver this spiritual work to its original place.” She said that she could not express her feelings because of excitement. After that, she added: “the library of Imam Reza (A.S) is the best place for learning” It must be said that the manuscript treasure of Astan Quds Razavi with 85000 rare and precious manuscript is one of the greatest intellectual treasure of the Islamic world. In fact, the aim of its formation is the good will of the dedicators for endowing the valuable manuscripts to the treasury of manuscripts during the course of the history.
