The details of the program for the 13th Intl. Festival of Razavi Book of the Year are announced.
According to Astan News, the scientific secretary of the Festival of Razavi Book of the Year, Dr. Ali Bagheri said: "All the submitted works should cover one of the following themes and subjects: Imam Reza (A.S.) and his family, Imam Musa Kazim (A.S.), Imam Javad (A.S.), Imam Hadi (A.S.), Imam Askari (A.S.), Imam Mahdi (A.S.), Husayn b. Musa al-Kazim (A.S.), Ahmad b. Musa al-Kazim (A.S.) known as "Shah Cheragh", and Lady Fatima Masumeh (A.S.). "
Also, pointing to the various formats of submitted works to the festival he stated: “This festival has been arranged in eight sections. Section one is the published books ad includes books on the subject of Qur’anic exegesis and sciences, history and lifestyle, pilgrimage, the Holy Shrine and sacred sites, poetry, children and teenagers, knowledge and sciences (ḥadīth or traditions, ethics, philosophy, theology, jurisprudence, psychology, social sciences, anthropology, pedagogy and educational science, Ṭib ul-Riḍā with the two approaches of the old and new medicine), and fiction, drama, and literary writings (long or short stories, anecdotes, minimal stories, plays; screenplay). The published books in every eight fields mentioned above will undergo the selection process.” According to Dr. Bagheri, digital and audiobooks, and academic/seminary theses and dissertations are the second and third sections of the festival respectively. He also said that in the fourth section, the unpublished works including the scientific research works, literary works as well as corrected and revised manuscripts will be examined.
Introducing the active publishers and the international works authored in a popular language as the fifth and sixth sections of the festival respectively, he added: section seven is the Sirāj Award which shall be granted to the best works on Islamic sciences and teachings of Ahl-ul-Bayt translated from Persian into popular languages of the world. Moreover, Dr. Bagheri noted that section eight of the festival is the ‘Ālim-i Āl-i Muḥammad (P.B.U.H.) Award which will be granted to the best foreign publisher active in the field of the Islamic sciences and teachings of Ahl-ul-Bayt.
Research Priorities
As Dr. Bagheri stated, the secretariat of the 13th Intl. Festival of Razavi Book of the Year has put the issue of implementing the guidelines of the custodian of Astan Quds Razavi at the forefront of its activities and policies intending to especially support the works authored in these fields. According to the scientific secretary of the festival, these issues include providing practical solutions for the conceptual and practical promotion of the pilgrimage and highlighting its epistemological as well as emotional and intellectual aspects, offering practical solutions for increasing the pilgrim’s Ma’rifah (cognition or knowledge) of Imam Reza (A.S.), and reinforcing the spirit of practical Guardianship or Wilāya among the pilgrims. Add to that, he stated, providing practical strategies for further development of the structure of the holy shrine complex in a manner that pilgrims will be encouraged to read books and acquire knowledge, providing practical strategies concerning the contributions of the Astan Quds Razavi to countering Islamophobia, defending the sanctity of the Prophet (P.B.U.H.) and his holy household (A.S.), and implementing the guidelines of the Supreme Leader.
Among the other issues Dr. Bagheri mentioned, are the role that the teachings of Imam Reza (A.S.) play in the realization of the Second Phase of the Revolution Statement (with respect to the purification of the soul and civilization-building), the role of Astan Quds Razavi in developing the modern Islamic civilization discourse, the position of martyr and martyrdom in Razavi teachings, the relationship between the martyrs and Imam Reza (A.S.), and the contributions that Astan Quds Razavi made to the Sacred Defense.
Deadline for Submitting Works
Submitters of the selected works authored in the above-mentioned eight subjects shall be awarded the festival sculpture, the letter of commendation, and a valuable reward. Furthermore, the festival’s secretariat would support the works in question in various ways (in terms of publication, purchasing, etc.).
The 13th Intl. Festival of Razavi Book of the Year will be started on June 2021 (during the ten-day Karamat celebrations) and the deadline for submitting the works is May 5, 2022.
