The Literary Criticism of the Book "Hadi"
the literary criticism session of the book "Hadi" one of the books sent to the secretariat of the 13th Intl. Festival of Razavi Book of the Year, was held with the presence of the author of the book, the scientific secretary of the festival and two prominent Iranian writers and researchers.
Reviewing the Novel “Hadi”
According to Ganjin-e Razavi, in a literary critique session held via a live webinar, Mohammad Reza Houri stated that his first work, the book "Hadi", is the result of three years of study and research. “The reason for writing the novel "Hadi" is the lack we see in the field of literary and storybooks with the subject of the life and personality of Imam Hadi (A.S.)” he added.
Referring to the red lines in the ritual literature, the author of the book "Hadi" stated: "I decided to write my novel from the perspective of the opponents and enemies of Imam Hadi (A.S.). Also, the early history of Islam was briefly introduced in this book.”
The lack of Reference Books on the Life of Imam Hadi (A.S.)
Asserting that the book "Hadi" has been written as a fictional literature, he added: " In this book, I also used my imagination, yet, turning it into reality necessities referring to sources and reference books. Unfortunately, due to the lack of books on the subject of Imam al-Hadi (A.S.), I had difficulty in describing some situations and personalities, nevertheless, I have tried to observe all red lines in this regard.”
The author pointed out: “The target audience for this book is teenagers and the young and it deals with the early history of Islam until the time of Imam Hadi (A.S.). Fortunately, as the first work in this subject, the book gained popularity after the publication.”
He said: “To write this book, I used contemporary sources such as " Muntaha al-Amal ", " Sireh Pishvayan", Arabic texts and also the “Noor al-Sirah” software.”
Furthermore, Houri asserted: “Referring to historical books is not considered as a criterion in historical novels, rather, the customs, as well as types of clothing and nutrition, should be dealt with in such books and this is clearly can be seen in the novel ‘Hadi’. The book ‘Hadi’ paves the way for the production of a historical television series.”
Then, Dr. Alireza Mehrdad, the author who serves on the jury of the 13th Intl. Festival of Razavi Book of the Year, reviewed this work. He stated: “Presenting the content in a manner that it appeals to the adolescent and young target audiences, is one of the privileges of the book ‘Hadi’. It generated an active and living trajectory for the audience.”
Referring to the content of a part of the novel "Hadi", Mehrdad believed that this novel is about chaste love that depicts the message of modesty and chastity. He mentioned the atmosphere, characterization and adding a historical atmosphere to the book, presenting a proper description of the places, Dar al-Amarah and some conversations as other positive points of this novel. “This book can provide the ground for producing a historical TV series” Mehrdad added.
Referring to the weak points of the novel “Hadi”, the prominent author and researcher of our country, pointed to the manipulation of the text of hadiths and said: “The author can use the power of imagination, yet, he should not manipulate or alter the reality. For example, the author could have benefited from the Ziyarat Jamiah Kabirah in this book.”
Novel “Hadi” is the Result of Conducting an In-depth Research
Monirah Hashemi, the children’s poet and author, was also another expert and critic who attended the meeting. She believed that the success of a literary work lies with the number of its readers. She continued: “The author of the book ‘Hadi’, while observing the red lines, has managed to present the content in a manner that it appeals to the general as well as specific audience because he avoided using a difficult content.”
She also stated: "Very few novels and stories have been written on the subject of the infallible Imams, therefore, the novel ‘Hadi’ is a successful start for the author in the field of creating such works.” "Certainly, the author has had many studies to write such a book, because the setting, characterization and advancement of the plot of the story have been done properly. We hope to see more of these stories by the authors of our country” she added.
Then, the scientific secretary of the 13th Intl. Festival of Razavi Book of the Year talked about the lifetime of Imam al-Hadi (A.S.) and the reign of Mutawakkil Abbasi, noting that the book "Hadi" seeks to address this period by using the power of imagination.
While praising the author of the book "Hadi", Hujjat al-Islam Ali Bagheri stated: “In the past two years, the festival, in addition to focusing on the life of Imam Reza (A.S.), has put the issues related to Imam Mahdi (A.S.) as well as the Imams called Ibn al-Reza (male descendants of Imam Reza (A.S.) namely Imam Javad (A.S.), Imam Hadi (A.S.), and Imam Hasan Askari (A.S.) on the agenda.”
Also, regarding the policy of the festival, he noted: “After the initial evaluation, the submitted works will undergo the final assessment. In addition to being evaluated in terms of promoting the tradition and culture of reading books, some books will also be reviewed so that the author would feel encouraged, although the festival's policy is to hold book review meetings for selected works.”
The scientific secretary of the festival continued: “Probably, the novel ‘Hadi’ is the first book in the field of literature, novels and stories which has been sent to the secretariat of the 13th Intl. Festival of Razavi Book of the Year.”
