Researches should be Proportionate to the Needs of the Country and in Line with Solving People’s Problems
The custodian of Āstān Quds Raḍawī said: The research endeavors and projects should be proportionate to the country’s needs and in line with solving people’s problems.
As reported by Āstān News, in the Tenth International Festival of Raḍawī Book of the Year Selection, held in the Islamic Research Foundation, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Ebrahim Raeesi emphasized the high status of committed penmanship in sublimation of human beings and the Islamic community. He went on to say, “Whenever the erudite authors undertook to write according to the Islamic culture and the doctrines of the Ahl al-Bayt (A.S.), the outcomes were valuable works, constructive both in human-training and creating strivers for the faith.
Emphasizing that the researches should be based on the country’s needs and toward solving people’s problems, he asserted that the research projects have to be applied and in line with fulfilling the country’s requirements. The elites and the researchers should identify the country’s needs and undertake to research and produce knowledge based on those needs.
The presiding board member of the Assembly of Experts for Leadership added: In order to answer the newly-raised queries, the first step is to identify the needs and then the researchers should undertake to fulfill these needs.
Necessity for Interaction among the Research Centers
While emphasizing that Fiqh al-Ḥadīth (science of hadith which deals with legal judgments) is more important than hadith, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Ebrahim Raeesi pointed out the importance of interaction among the research centers and said: The interaction of the institutions and research centers is essential for development of science; this interaction would help the undertaken measures to fulfill these needs without engaging in parallel works.
The high council member of the Khorasan Islamic Seminary said: It is necessary to establish scientific associations and scholarly sessions in relation to traditions and effective strivings be made in providing practical approaches for presenting solutions to fulfill the country’s needs. Alongside heritage revivification, which is a very blessed endeavor, the researchers should pay attention to the daily problems and newly-arisen queries and seek to find proper answers to today’s questions.
Thinkers’ Club is Suggested to be Established in Mashhad
Referring to the high capacity of Āstān Quds Raḍawī, he further stated: the Thinkers’ Club is to be established in the Holy Mashhad in the vicinity of the resplendent threshold of Imam Ali b. Mūsā al-Riḍā (A.S.) in order to utilize the capacity of the erudite and elite figures that travel to this land for pilgrimage. The outcome of such a club would definitely be “science production” and “Fiqh al-Hadith”.
He added: In Mashhad Islamic Seminary, over 500 professors and in the universities many other elite scientists are ready to provide services in thematic researches to the resplendent threshold of Imam Riḍā (A.S.).
His Holiness Imam Riḍā (A.S.) the Standard Bearer of Interfaith Dialogue
Stating that Imam Riḍā (A.S.) is the standard bearer of interfaith dialogue, Hujjat al-Islam Raeesi further emphasized: by following the teachings of the benevolent Imam Ali b. Mūsā al-Riḍā (A.S.) Mashhad can be turned into a center for dialogue among faiths and schools.
Saying that good measures have been taken nowadays in interfaith dialogue but they are not enough, the custodian of Āstān Quds Raḍawī added: By following Imam Riḍā (A.S.) as a role model, the best and most efficient interfaith dialogue sessions can be established in Mashhad and I expect the Āstān Quds Raḍawī Organization to actively participate in this field. He considered the Āstān Quds Raḍawī Central Library as a great treasury of premium works and said: The valuable treasury of Āstān Quds Raḍawī Central Library should turn into a dynamic treasury that includes science production and research resources; without research the library is merely a place for keeping books. In this library, the latest scholarly findings, especially with the use of digital resources, should be provided to the academicians from universities and Islamic seminaries.
In conclusion, stating that the contemporary humankind is in a compelling need for the teachings of Imam Riḍā (A.S.), Hujjat al-Islam Raeesi stressed the importance of modern methods for conveying concepts and stated that the methods of conveying concepts are to be seriously revised; the sublime concepts ought to be conveyed through premium literature. The accompanying of majestic knowledge with beautiful literature can be a source of numerous blessings.
