The executive director of the Ninth International Festival of Raḍawī Book of the Year Selection said in the closing ceremonies of this festival, “Our Identity as Iranians is Profoundly Bonded with His Holiness Imam Riḍā (A.S.).”
As reported by Astan News, Muhammad Hadi Zahedi, the Chairman of the Organization of Libraries, Museums and Document Center of Āstān Quds Raḍawī, said, “Up to now over two thousand Raḍawī Works have been received by the library of this Holy Threshold within seven editions of celebrating this festival by this organization, which have been made accessible to the knowledgeable and learned clients by the specialized and round-the-clock Library of Āstān Quds Raḍawī of Imam Riḍā (A.S.).
On the sideline of this ceremony, he considered the migration of Imam Riḍā (A.S.) from Medina to Marv as a cultural, scholarly, and history-making migration and said, “The outcome of this migration can be studied from different aspects by the people of mind.” Zahedi added, “At the beginning of the second century AH (ninth century AD), many anti-Islamic riots took place in Khurasan; however, upon the Eighth Imam’s (A.S.) migration to Marv, no anti-religious riot took place in this region since the third century onward. That was because one of the measures that this Holy Imam took after his migration according to historical books, was his interfaith dialogues. Therefore, the presence of Imam Riḍā (A.S.) can be mentioned as a factor of prevalence of Islam in Khurasan and Iran.
He named the Gawharhsad Mosque as one of the historical constructions of the Timurid period and the Khawrazmshāhī stone water trough (sangāb) as a monument dating back to the Khawrazmshāhī period and said, “These monuments left behind from various historical periods indicate the Iranian rulers’ attention to the Holy Shrine of Imam Riḍā (A.S.) and suggest the importance of this heavenly threshold to the people.
The executive director of the International Festival of Raḍawī Book of the Year Selection added, “Also, through history many of the cities of the Great Khurasan were destroyed and perhaps if the Holy Threshold of Imam Riḍā (A.S.) was not in this land, there would remain no heritage from Khurasan.
Referring to the statement of Imam Khomeini who said, “Āstān Quds Raḍawī is the Capital of Iran”, he said, “Thus, this holy threshold can be named as the center of science, wisdom, dialogue, interaction, and dynamism of the Iranian society, and the book-producing people should pay attention to various aspects of the Eighth Imam’s (A.S.) presence in Khurasan.
It is worth-mentioning that the closing ceremonies of the Ninth International Festival of Raḍawī Book of the Year Selection was celebrated by the Organization of Libraries, Museums and Document Center of Āstān Quds Raḍawī simultaneous with the Birth anniversary celebrations of the Eighth Imam (A.S.) on Mordad 17, 1395/August 7, 2016 in the vicinity of the Holy Shrine of Imam Riḍā (A.S.).
