Festival of Raḍawī Book of the Year Selection is Mainstreaming, Productive, and Culture-building
since the Ninth International Festival of Raḍawī Book of the Year Selection can be named as a sumptuous and highly valuable festival in the country’s general culture, particularly, as a movement in book publication in the field of Raḍawī culture and knowledge.”

As reported by the Public Relations and International Affairs of the Organization of Libraries, Museums and Document Center of Āstān Quds Raḍawī, Sayyid Javad Ja’fari viewed the above three features of the festival as unique and said, “These very features have caused the festival to enjoy more considerable qualitative and quantitative growth each year than its previous years, since the Ninth International Festival of Raḍawī Book of the Year Selection can be named as a sumptuous and highly valuable festival in the country’s general culture, particularly, as a movement in book publication in the field of Raḍawī culture and knowledge.”
Referring to this festival’s being mainstreaming, he stated, “When the publishers, authors, researchers, university professors and students, translators, and in a word, all those who deal with books actively participate in the Festival of Raḍawī Book of the Year Selection, it means that this festival has created a mainstream and has reinforced the festival, as well.”
Ja’fari further said, “Although there were only 50 books available each year in the field of Raḍawī culture in the early days of launching the festival, today as the ninth year of the festival was held over 320 works were produced in only one year in the field of Raḍawī culture and knowledge, which indicates the productivity of this festival. In a word, this festival has created the capability and capacity for the production of works in the field of Raḍawī culture and knowledge and thus, some works on different research, writing, translation, and dissertation have been published.”
Emphasizing the continuation of this valuable movement, he said, “The movements that are continuous can definitely build up culture around them and prepare the ground for the institutionalization of that culture in such arenas as society, science, investigation and research; and this blessed event has taken place because of holding the Festival of Raḍawī Book of the Year Selection.”
The managing director of Imam Riḍā (A.S.) International Foundation viewed the new approaches of Āstān Quds Raḍawī as based on increasing service-rendering to the pilgrims and added, “Paying attention to and looking after the low-income and underprivileged social strata is among the measures taken in the new strategies of Āstān Quds Raḍawī and these strategies are to be taken into consideration in the cultural works and activities of Āstān Quds Raḍawī and other centers active in the field of Raḍawī culture, whether during the Ten-Day Karāmat celebrations or throughout the year.”
He added, “Attention was also paid to the concept of development of service and honorary servants (khādims) in the board of juries’ manifesto of the Festival of Raḍawī Book of the Year Selection in respect to the approach that Āstān Quds Raḍawī has in this area so that the festival’s officials deal with these topics in the coming years’ summons and the Raḍawī Culture activists produce their works in these trends.”
Furthermore, Ja’fari named the Library of Āstān Quds Raḍawī as one of the honors in the country’s spiritual culture and said, “Undoubtedly, the celebration of the International Festival of Raḍawī Book of the Year Selection by the Organization of Libraries, Museums and Document Center of Āstān Quds Raḍawī is because of the status that this library enjoys and that it has been able to open a new window to the researchers in the country today through its relation and interaction with various scholarly centers, publishers, and authors.”
Emphasizing that Āstān Quds Raḍawī Library is one of the magnificent and great libraries of the Islamic Republic of Iran, he added, “Besides paying attention to the rich sources, this library moves on along with the society’s current needs and new means of study and book-reading based on the client’s demands.
The managing director of Imam Riḍā (A.S.) International Foundation stated, “For instance, these magnificent libraries have their network of branches in the farthest reaches of the country and provide the clients with access to the facilities of the libraries affiliated to the Organization of Libraries, Museums and Document Center of Āstān Quds Raḍawī.”
While honoring the blessed birth anniversary of the Eighth Imam (A.S.), he referred to the Convening of the premium “Summit of the Holy Shrines” in the vicinity of the Holy Shrine of Imam Riḍā (A.S.) initiated by the custodian of Āstān Quds Raḍawī and said, “This summit opens up a new window for interaction, cooperation, and solidarity of the Holy Thresholds.”
It is worth-mentioning that the closing ceremonies of the Ninth International Festival of Raḍawī Book of the Year Selection was held on Mordad 27, 1395/August 17, 2016 in Shaykh Tabarsi Auditorium of the Islamic Research Foundation of Āstān Quds Raḍawī.
