Referring to the status of pen and writing in the teachings of the Holy Qur’ān, the custodian of Āstān Quds Raḍawī asserted, “The high status that Islam has allocated to book and the “dignified writing”, is not observed in any of the human civilizations.
As reported by Astan News, Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Sayyed Ebrahim Raeisi added in a lecture in the closing ceremonies of the Ninth International Festival of Raḍawī Book, “The status of dignified writing has been so highly promoted in the Islamic teachings that it is said that on the Resurrection Day it would be rated as superior to the blood of the martyrs.”
He further said, “In the first verse that was revealed to the Holy Apostle of Allah (S.A.W.), the Exalted Allah made him familiar with the culture of compiling; and writing and the Apostle of Allah (S.A.W.) introduced “The City of Knowledge” and “The Gate to Knowledge” to human society.
Member of the Supreme Council of Khorasan Seminary, then, explained the importance of the Exalted Allah’s swearing by the pen in the verses of the Holy Words of Allah and said, “This swearing is not by all the pens and what is written with them; rather, the Exalted Allah swears by the pen that is the writer of truth and a sign of Divine Unity and writes the human dignity.”
Stating that the Holy Apostle’s (S.A.W.) mandate to Amīr al-Mu’minīn (A.S.) for writing down the Divine verses lies on the pinnacle of dignified writing, Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Raeisi added, “Writing is one of the human products that has turned into the greatest human asset; but unfortunately some human individuals neither benefit from it nor add to it.”
He recalled “book” as the mother and essence of civilizations, “Where the learned people of the pen have used their pen to write something, valuable written works have been produced for human beings. However, there are still serious deficiencies in many of the scientific and epistemic fields that the learned writers and scholars should endeavor to resolve.”
The presiding board member of the Assembly of Experts for Leadership mentioned the doctrinal knowledge and principles of the Islamic Revolution as one of these fields and asserted, “The foundation and principle of our revolution is based on thought, culture, and cultural development and thus the people of thought, wisdom, and mind should undertake a great task and write in line with explaining and compiling the culture and principles of the Islamic Revolution.

Immunizing and Creating Responsibility
The custodian of Āstān Quds Raḍawī further emphasized the role of the people of culture and literature in reinforcing the intellectual, cultural, and thinking principles of society and said, “In this direction, besides valuing the freedom of thought and action, the works that are produced should be the works that would also immunize and create responsibility.
Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Raeisi pointed out the enemy’s attempts for influencing the beliefs, moralities, and thoughts of the Muslim Iranian Society and stated, “In these circumstances the mission of the people of the pen and thought demands them to take measure in immunizing the society or all individuals, in particular for the youth and the adolescents.”
He added, “We have a rich culture and an ancient civilization by the name of religion and Divine values, by appealing to which many learned scholars and thinkers came into being, especially after the Islamic Revolution; and today the people of the pen as frontier guards of culture should not allow the thought borders of the society be broken through.”
Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Raeisi also emphasized the necessity of answering the newly-arisen queries and said, “The first step in this direction is to identify the needs in various fields. In the second phase, the researchers and thinkers are to step forward to fulfil these needs.”
The custodian of Āstān Quds Raḍawī, then, announced the formation of [a new position called] Imam Riḍā’s (A.S.) Honorary Servants of Knowledge (khādimān-i ‘ilmī) and said, “In this way, we intend to employ the learned researchers and scholars devoted to the Holy Threshold of Imam Riḍā (A.S.) for the purpose of spreading and publishing the doctrinal knowledge of the Household of the Apostle of Allah (S.A.W.).
It is worth-mentioning that at the end of this meeting, the winners of the Ninth International Festival of Raḍawī Book of the Year Selection were introduced and honored in the presence of Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimin Raeisi, the custodian of Āstān Quds Raḍawī.
